Endless Summer from the slopes of Kalamoir Regional Park in West Kelowna! The inspiration for this piece came from a balmy October Day when Jaxon was out plein air painting soaking up the beautiful fall weather.
The warm autumn light created a vibrant contrast between the turning leaves and the sparkling waters of Okanagan Lake. This, of course, with Kelowna’s iconic Black Mountain in the distant which is the focal point of this painting. An remnant of a prehistoric volcano, Black Mountain is one of Jaxon’s favourite mountains to paint! It has mystery, it has allure and it’s volcanic rock create wonderful purple hues against the backdrop of rolling grassland. Set above the agricultural benches of Rutland and South East Kelowna, this towering landmark watches over the City of Kelowna and always reminds Jaxon of home.
As Jaxon was wrapping up his plein air sketch, a soft warm breeze brought a few sail boats into the scene! The perfect finishing touches & subtle movement to bring the viewer into the painting & remind them of those endless summer days on the lake!
